Storm King, the horror-focused publisher run by director Sandy King Carpenter, has announced two new titles for Spring 2027.
Shadow Boulevard, by writer Steve Niles and artist Andrea Mutti, is a post-apocalyptic horror romance about a monster hunter and a vampire who appear to be the only ones left on earth. Mitch donates his blood to Grace, the vampire, so she can survive, and their relationship goes from prickly to passionate, but when a family of humans appears, Grace’s need for their blood clashes with Mitch’s ethical code. The 96-page paperback will go on sale on July 7, 2027, in comic shops and on July 13 in bookstores, with an MSRP of $17.99.
“When writing Shadow Boulevard, I had the idea of creating a love letter to classic noir films. I wanted to do something different with the idea of a monster hunter, so I worked on a supernatural love story that grows while they face the end of the world,” Niles said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Niles has just been announced as a contributor to Z2’s Iron Maiden graphic novel (see “‘Somewhere in Time’”), while Mutti recently drew a story for Legendary’s Trick ‘R Treat: Witching Hours (see “Legendary Announces Publishing Plans for 2026”).
Mouse-Ters Attack, by writer and artist Dennis Calero, is a middle-grade fantasy about a vampire mouse and a werewolf rat who invade the home where Dr. Frankenstein once lived, hoping to find a way to bring a monster to life. Instead, they are thwarted at every turn by the human descendants of the doctor as well as mysterious supernatural forces. The art is done in a classic illustration style reminiscent of Brian Selznick’s Hugo Cabret. The 88-page paperback will be released in comic shops on March 3, 2027, and in bookstores on March 9.
“I’ve always loved the classic Monsters and wanted to do a story that was accessible to all ages,” Calero said. “A tale that was funny AND spooky. It was surprising to me how these characters seemed to just be waiting in the dark recesses of my mind. The moment I called upon them, they were there.”
