Heritage Auctions announced their Tapping Into The Many Worlds Of Magic: The Gathering Volume X Trading Card Games Showcase Auction, which will take place on October 29, 2026.

This particular auction features some items that aren’t commonly included in high-end auctions. Among the more interesting types of items in this auction are older sealed Collector Booster boxes from sets like Wilds of Eldraine, Modern Horizons III, Commander Legends, and more. Prices of older sealed Collector Booster boxes have been on the rise in the last two years (based on recent eBay sales) because of an increase in demand and scarcity of Collector Booster product for certain sets.

The demand is likely driven by live stream platform sellers, who want to obtain desirable sealed product to do box breaks with and open live. This auction should test some of the prices of these products in the current market.

The auction also showcases some signed cards, the headliner being an Unlimited Black Lotus signed by Christopher Rush and Richard Garfield. Signed cards have been a subject of controversy amongst different dealers and collectors over the last five years. Some convention dealers had been pushing the narrative that autographed/art-altered cards qualify as “damaged” cards, but collectors who specialize in these types of cards feel differently about them.

It is possible that the release of the new Star Trek set ends the “damaged card” narrative permanently, as it contains autographed cards (see “‘Magic: The Gathering – Star Trek’ Booster Set“), but it is still unclear where the market stands on whether or not autographs/altered artwork increase or decrease a card’s value (it has gone both ways in recent history). The auction should provide some data for where the market is on this subject.

This auction also contains a number of oversized Magic promo cards from vintage TCG magazines, such as Scrye (see “‘Scrye’ Magazine Ending“) and Inquest (see “Wizard Kills InQuest“). The three most desirable oversized Magic promos are generally the Black Lotus (came in Scrye #15), Juzam Djinn (came in The Duelist #12), and Chaos Orb (came in Inquest #12), all of which are represented in this auction.
