Games Workshop announced a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 at their preview event at AdeptiCon 2026.
It seems like fans barely got to know Warhammer 40,000 10E, which was launched in 2023 (see “New Edition of ‘Warhammer 40,000’“). However, at AdeptiCon 2026, GW has already announced the next edition of Warhammer 40,000. The new edition will kick off with the Armageddon: The Return of Yarrick boxed set that begins the story of a coalition of Space Marines coming to the aid of a beleaguered planet after Commissar Yarrick receives a desperate plea for help. The boxed set features two armies: the Space Marines against the Orks.
The changes to the rules in this edition include no more round objective markers (replaced by terrain footprints to determine control of objectives), new terrain rules, and a streamlining of combat rules to allow flexibility for choosing targets. Additionally, the Detachments players choose for the game will affect mission objectives.
