Definitive Illustrated History of Howard’s U.S. Publications
Troll Lord Games revealed a four volume Robert E. Howard Art Chronology set, which will hit retail in 2026.
These four volumes, written and compiled by Michael Tierney, total 1600 pages and 7000 images chronicling Robert E. Howard’s publication history in the U.S. The book tells the narratives of the artists who adapted Howard’s characters into works of art as well as some of the untold stories behind the art pieces.
The four volumes cover the pieces of artwork by publication type. Vol. 1: The Pulps delves into artwork produced for early 20th century Pulp magazines; Vol. 2: The Books goes into the famous book covers created for Conan the Cimmerian (see “‘Conan’ ‘Man Ape’ Painting“), Solomon Kane, and his Western stories. Vol. 3 and Vol. 4 offer fans a deep dive into comics and comic magazine artwork based on Howard’s work (see “Conan the Barbarian #1 “). These volume showcase characters like Conan the Barbarian, King Kull, Bran Mak Morn, Dark Agnes, Cormac Mac Art, Soloman Kane, Ironhand of Almuric, Belit, and the Valeria.
It will retail for $350.
