Wizards of the Coast has cancelled the release of the Beginner Box, for Magic: The Gathering – Star Trek in all regions.
WotC follows up the recent announcement of Reality Fracture product delays (see “Product Delays“) by straight up cancelling release of the Star Trek: Beginner Box, which was supposed to release on November 13, 2026. The Beginner Box was an entry level boxed set that came with 2 instant-play decks, 8 Jumpstart decks, a rules reference booklet, 2 playmats, 8 themed half-decks, 5 double-sided tokens, and 2 Spindown life counters for $119.99 (see “Product Line“). If customers had preordered this box, WotC instructed them to contact their LGS for more information; no other Star Trek products were affected by this cancellation.
WotC has been having a series of supply chain issues over the last several months. They announced Play Booster shortages for Reality Fracture in August (see “Booster Shortages“) because of low waters in the Panama Canal; prior to that, there were The Hobbit Play Booster shipping issues for prereleases (see “‘The Hobbit’ Prerelease Shortages“).
