Ares Games announced Sieges of Middle-earth, a new board game expansion for War of the Ring, which will hit retail in December 2026.
The new War of the Ring expansion (see “War of the Ring 2E“) adds new game mechanics revolving around great sieges in Middle-earth as described by Tolkien’s works; these sieges include the Battle of Helm’s Deep and the Siege of Minas Tirith. Shadow players will gain access to Siege Engines, such as Siege Towers and Catapults, and the Free Peoples players can use new Heroic Feats to attempt to break the siege. The expansion also introduce Fellowship tokens, a new Free Peoples resource that transform into Palantir tokens, a Shadow player resource, once used.
