Mugen Gaming’s English Edition of Sword World RPG has passed $2.7 million in funding on BackerKit in 5 days.

Sword World RPG, created by Group SNE, was first released in Japan in 1989 via Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine, and has since sold over 10 million copies.  This high fantasy JRPG was inspired by Record of the Lodoss War (see “Hall of Fame Inducts Three“), and runs on a 2D6 mechanics system.  It also features an open multiclass system, and has decades of official and community content created for the game.

“The response to our first day of crowdfunding has absolutely blown us away, and we want to first say how grateful we are to everyone who has joined us on this journey,” said Shawn Davidson and Ai Namima-Davidson, co-owners of Mugen Gaming.  “It would not be possible without the great people working on this project and the amazing members of the Sword World community that supported this game before we ever had the chance to work on it.”

This is the first time the game has ever been released in English.  There have been three edition of the RPG printed, thus far; the English Edition is based on Sword World 2.5 (2018).  The BackerKit offers a retailer preorder pledge; for $10 down they can express their interest in carrying the game and later order it through Mugen Gaming.
