Halloween is approaching, and Hollywood has scared up fresh news. Time for a round-up!

Batman: Part II is apparently heading back into production without director Matt Reeves on set, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Reeves paused production on the film to deal with a family situation (see “Production Paused“).  The “show must go on” in order to hit their projected February 18, 2028 release date (see “Best in Shows — 2028“), so Steven Soderbergh will step in to help complete principal photography.  Reeves will still work with Soderbergh, remotely, while he is on leave.

Bandai Namco Filmworks, Inc. announced, at New York Comic Con 2026, that Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom Zero will be heading to North American theaters in February 2027 (see teaser below).  This is the prequel movie to Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom, and will feature Matthew Erickson, Matt Hill and Sam Vincent as voice actors in the English-language version.  The Gundam franchise has been on a tear in 2026; games and merch based on this IP have been some of the hottest on the market going into the holiday season (see “Most Buzzworthy“).

Big Shot Pictures has optioned CookieRun for a movie project, according to Deadline.  Big Shot Pictures is a production company owned by former Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins; they licensed CookieRun from Devsisters, which owns the IP for the popular mobile game with over 300 million downloads, and more recently, produced the hit CookieRun: Braverse TCG (see “‘CookieRun TCG’“).

Netflix released a trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (see below).  This anime series is the follow-up season to the hit Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series (see “‘Cyberpunk Anime’“), and it will begin streaming on October 20, 2026.

Prime Video revealed a trailer for the Blade Runner 2099 series (see below).  This limited series stars Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh (see “‘Blade Runner 2099’“) and will hit streaming on November 25, 2026.

Netflix also released an official trailer for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew (see below).  The movie is directed by Greta Gerwig (see “Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’“) and will head to theaters on February 12, 2027.Source: ICv2
