‘Odds and Ends’ Includes Desirable Reprints; WotC to Apply Lessons Learned from ‘Hatsune Miku’ Deck Sale
Wizards of the Coast is offering up the Commander Deck: Odds and Ends, for Magic: The Gathering, which will hit DTC preorder via the Secret Lair: Chaos Vault on September 28, 2026 at 9 am PT.
The Chaos Vault is opening up for the first time since the disaster that was The Zeta Set sale (see “‘The Zeta Set’ Sale a ‘Disaster’“). This time, the Commander Deck: Odds and Ends is set to be preordered via the Vault. This preordering system also doesn’t have a great record with successfully managing queues of fans trying to buy Commander Decks, as the Goblin Storm sale was also had its own issues (see “A Way to Fix It“).
However, in early September, after reviewing the ordering process of the Hatsune Miku Commander Deck (see “Tale of the Tape“), WotC has decide to use 24-hour ordering model for Odds and Ends. Every order placed in the first 24 hours will be fulfilled; a limited quantity of decks will be ready to ship and additional orders will ship later. They estimate that the additional orders will be shipped in NA markets in July 2027 and EU in August 2027.
The deck, itself, offers players all sorts of desirable reprints featuring artwork by Ricardo Cavolo; this deck was designed by Studio X’s Megan Smith. The commander for this deck is Yennet, Cryptic Sovereign, and reprinted cards included in the deck are Sensei’s Diving Top, Esper Sentinel, and Reconnaissance. Additionally, this deck contains 12 foil cards with new artwork and 76 non-foil Planeswalker-stamped cards.
