Summer is officially on the way out, but lots of Hollywood news is on the way in. Time for a round-up!
Ijaaz Noohu, a former production assistant on the Criminal series (see “‘Criminal’“), has filed a lawsuit against Amazon MGM Studios and Big Indie Pictures, alleging a hostile environment, with sexual and racial harassment, religious discrimination, assault, and battery, created by comic writer and showrunner Ed Brubaker, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The suit also alleges that Brubaker pointed a working firearm at Noohu and pulled the trigger. Noohu seeks unspecified damages in the lawsuit, which was filed in a California state court on September 2, 2026.
The Pokemon Company International announced a 2027 release for Pokémon: Wild Card, the first feature length Pokémon movie since the 2021 release of Pokémon the Movie: Secrets in the Jungle (see “‘Pokémon the Movie’). The story follows an aspiring TCG player and Mimikyu, the Disguise Pokémon. The production is from STORY Inc. and Japanese animation studio CloverWorks. See teaser below.
The long-awaited collaboration between Aardman and Pokemon, originally announced back in 2024 (see “Aardman-Pokemon Collab“), will finally come to fruition next year when the Aardman-produced Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu stop-motion animation series drops on Disney+. The series will be set in the United Kingdom-esque Galar region, appropriate for the collaboration with UK-based Aardman.
Netflix is working on a new live-action Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft series which takes place in the popular horror setting (see “‘Ravenloft’“), according to Deadline. The new series will be written and executive produced by John August, with Oscar-winner Alfonso Cuaron and Hasbro Entertainment as additional exec producers. An earlier Netflix live-action Dungeons & Dragons series from showrunner Drew Crevello is no longer in development, according to the report.
The Spider-Noir series has been cancelled after one season, according to Variety. The Prime Video/MGM series starred Nicolas Cage as the lead character, which was based on Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man Noir (see “‘Spider-Noir’“).
Disney+ has frozen their live-action Gargoyles series, according to Variety. The series, which was in early stages of development (see “‘Gargoyles’ Live Action“), will not move forward.
Prime Video Japan will adapt Natsu Hyuuga’s The Apothecary Diaries manga (see “Top 20“) into a live-action series. The new series, co-produced by Toho and Amazon MGM Studios, will star Mana Ashida as poison enthusiast Maomao. Yuki Saito has been tapped to direct the series, and episode will be penned by Erika Yoshida. The series will drop in 2028.Source: ICv2
