The dog days of a wet summer are wrapping up, but Hollywood news is still rather sultry. Time for a round-up!
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the second highest-grossing films at the domestic box offices, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It passed Avengers: Endgame last week, which grossed $858.3 million (see “‘Avengers: Endgame’ Passes ‘Titanic’“), and is closing in on $900 this weekend. The top spot still belongs to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which raked in $936.6 million during its run (see “Noses Out ‘Detective Pikachu’“).
Speaking of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Entertainment released a trailer for Avengers: Endgame – Encore (see below). The Encore presentation of Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters of September 25, 2026 (see “Marvel, Lucasfilm Blockbusters Back“) and includes an exclusive sneak peak at Avengers: Doomsday (see “‘Avengers: Doomsday’“).
Prime Video has cast their new RoboCop, according Deadline. Dan Stevens will play the iconic Detroit policeman Alex Murphy in the upcoming RoboCop series (see “‘Robocop’“), which had been officially greenlighted in July 2026.
Netflix is reportedly in talks with Charles Melton to play a key role in a Naruto live action movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Melton recently starred in Beef Season 2 on Netflix. The movie, which is a Lionsgate production, will be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton (see “‘Naruto’ Live-Action“).
Warner Bros. is looking at returning to the town of Bedrock for a The Flintstones live action movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will be produced by Ryan Gosling (see “Ryan Gosling Is ‘Ghost Rider’“) and Jessie Henderson under their Open Invite studio banner.
Adult Swim released a trailer for Anthony Bourdain’s Get Jiro (see below). This series (see “Adult Swim Orders ‘Get Jiro!’“) premieres on Adult Swim’s Toonami on October 3, 2026.Source: ICv2
