Wizards of the Coast unveiled A Perfectly Normal Superdrop, for Magic: The Gathering, which will be available for DTC preorder on August 31, 2026.
This Superdrop was teased at MagicCon: Amsterdam (see “‘Magic: The Gathering’“), and features an array of different sets, including four Secret Lair X Marvel sets. Of the four Marvel sets, the most notable, in terms of flavor, is probably Earth’s Mightiest Pets, which offers collectors cards showcasing Lockjaw, Jeff, the Landshark, and Devil Dinosaur. The most interesting of the Featuring: Artist sets is a Gene Luen Yang set that has cards with images rendered by the award-winning artist (see “Interview with Gene Luen Yang“).
The following sets are available in the release:
Secret Lair X Marvel: Earth’s Mightiest Pets (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). The Marvel pet-themed set comes with an Ephemerate, a Shark Typhoon, a Lightning Bolt, a Searing Blaze, a Commune with Dinosaurs, and a Titanic Ultimatum.
Secret Lair X Marvel: Hulk Smash (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). This all-Hulk drop set contains an Anger, a
Gratuitous Violence, a Rishkar’s Expertise as “Joe Fixit’s Expertise,” a Search for Tomorrow, and an Unnatural Growth.
Secret Lair X Marvel: Dan Hipp (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). Dan Hipp is a well-known DC comics illustrator with a playful art style. The set comes with a Mystical Dispute, An Offer You Can’t Refuse, a Training Grounds, an Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder as “Mister Sinister, Hubris Unbound” and a Bristly Bill, Spine Sower as “Man-Thing, Marsh Protector.”
Secret Lair X Marvel: True Believers in Love (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). It contains a Happily Ever After, a True Love’s Kiss, a Run Away Together, a Savor the Moment, a Grave Pact and a Thrill of Possibility.
Secret Lair X Lofi Girl: Beats To Cast To (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). This set was also teased as part of the MagicCon Amsterdam panel, and showcases Lofi girl on cards. It comes with a Felidar Guardian as “Lofi Cat”; a Starfield of Nyx as “Snowman Starfield”; a Careful Study; a Merchant Scroll as “Grandma’s Scroll” and a Paradise Mantle as “Cozy Headphones.”
Cosmic Chill by Robin Eisenberg (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). This set features an Orvar, the All-Form, a Sage of Hours, a See Double, a Slip Through Space, and a Sway of the Stars.
Featuring: Gene Luen Yang (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). The Gene Luen Yang art set contains a Kibo, Uktabi Prince as “Monkey, Awakened to Emptiness”; an Ilharg, the Raze-Boar as “Pigsy of the Eight Precepts”; a Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs as “Sandy, Awakened to Purity”; a Dosan, the Falling Leaf as “Tripitaka, Seeker from Tang” and a Quest for Renewal.
Artist Series: Ian Miller (Foil $39.99; Non-Foil $29.99). This set comes with a Shivan Dragon, an Animar, Soul of Elements; a Korvold, Fae-Cursed King and a Tsabo Tavoc.
