Stone Blade Entertainment previewed The Lord of the Rings: Ascension at Gen Con 2026.
This game was first announced back in June 2026 (see “‘LotR: Ascension’“). In this game, players assume control of a faction within the LotR world (Humans, Elves, Dwarves, or Hobbits), and attempt gain control of Middle-earth, all while preventing Sauron from defeating all of the players. The game utilizes the base Ascension mechanics combined with flavor mechanics specific to the Middle-earth setting. It also has a solo mode, and a narrative campaign mode.
There will be three retail releases for this game line. The first game, The Fellowship of the Ring, will hit stores in Q1 2028; The Two Towers will arrive at retail in Q2 2028. The third game, The Return of the King, will head to stores in Q3 2028.
