‘Batman of Two Worlds’ One-Shot, Exclusive ‘Batman,’ ‘DKR,’ ‘Batman ’89’ Hardcovers
DC Comics revealed an array of items designed to bring readers into comic book shops for Batman Day 2026 (Saturday, September 19) at the ComicsPRO Retailer Day at San Diego Comic-Com.
That includes the one-shot Batman of Two Worlds #1, which features a Batman story by writer Matt Fraction and artist Javi Fernández and an Absolute Batman story by writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Derington (see “Batman/Absolute Batman Comic”). This comic will available only in comic shops and will have an MSRP of $2.99; retailers can order bundles of 25 copies.
DC will also release a special edition of the 40th anniversary hardcover Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (see “‘Batman: The Dark Knight Returns’ Turns 40”) that will have a Batman Day variant dust jacket and will include digital codes for the two animated films; the book will also have a higher price point, $44.99, compared to the standard edition, which has an MSRP of $39.99.
Other special Batman Day items will include a Batman Vol. 1 hardcover with a dust jacket by Nick Dragotta that pays homage to the Absolute Batman cover and a Batman ’89 hardcover that includes a digital code for the movie.
In addition, DC will offer free Batman masks to retailers who place qualifying orders of Batman Day items. There will be four sets, matching four different Batman costumes, from Absolute Batman, Batman by Jorge Jimenez, Batman: Hush,and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
DC also announced a new initiative, DC Start Here, a program that offers first issues of different series for $1, with discounts on the corresponding graphic novels as well. The first set of titles, timed for Batman Day, includes Batman #1 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, Batman: Dark Patterns #1 by Dan Watters and Hayden Sherman, Batman #1 by Tom King and David Finch, and Batman: White Knight #1 by Sean Murphy.
