BOOM! Studios will shop almost 250,000 copies of the landmark 50th issue of James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera’s Something Is Killing the Children, VP Josh Hayes announced at the ComicsPRO Retailer Day at San Diego Comic-Con.  That includes the company’s blind-bag program.  The blind bags are priced at $14.99, more expensive than usual, but, Hayes said, “There’s not a single cover in this blind bag that you can buy anywhere else.”  The covers are also packed between pieces of chipboard to protect them.  And, Hayes said, “There’s a third surprise that I cannot announce yet, but I am going to tell you that there is a comic and there is something else in the bag, so there is an add-on that is going to launch a whole world of things.”

Hayes also revealed that BOOM! is planning a new Hellraiser series.  They began publishing Hellraiser comics, written by Clive Barker, in 2011 (see “Clive Barker Resurrects ‘Hellraiser’”) but have not published any new material since 2015, although they have been publishing facsimile editions of the older comics.  Now they are planning a series of five Hellraiser: Resurrections one-shots by different writers, including Mike Costa, Zac Thompson, and Tini Howard, that will be published weekly through September and will lead into the launch of a new series in the fall.
