Ares Games announced that the next War of the Ring: The Card Game expansion will be previewed at UK Games Expo on the weekend of May 29-31, 2026.
The new expansion is titled Hope and Despair, and is inspired by turning points in The Lord of the Rings saga. This expansion will add Story cards to the mix. These cards represent both supernatural and natural influences in the LotR world, and provide a boost to decks in the game. More information about this product will be released at UK Games Expo.
Ares Games has also placed War of the Ring 2E: The Two Decades – LE Trilogy Set onto preorder (see “‘War of the Ring 2E: The Two Decades – LE Trilogy Set’ on Preorder“).
