Bad Idea has three big launches in July, including a spy thriller, the kick-off of a new horror universe, and a Banana one-shot.
Warbird #1, written by John Wick screenwriter Derek Kolstad and Robert Venditti with art by Alex Maleev, tells the story of a high-end repo man contracted to steal a new high-tech fighter jet built by the Russians using plans stolen from the U.S., China, the UK, France, and Germany, and to destroy the other two prototypes.
Cover A is by Maleev, B is by Frank Quitely, and C by Michael Cho, variants by Rod Reis and J.G. Jones, with a Maleev glow-in-the-dark cover, a Secret Code Edition, and a Jet Metal Edition by Quitely. Bad Idea is also offering WARBIRD: The PC Game and WARBIRD: the Console Game as incentive bonuses for 250- and 500-copy orders, respectively. Release of this 32-page book is July 22 at $5.99 MSRP.
Dingoliath #1, written by Robert Venditti and indie horror movie director Brockton McKinney with art by Manix Abrera, will be the first story in a new horror universe. It tells the story of an elite police unit dispatched to arrest a drug dealer’s door that instead confronts a nightmarish creature. Cover A is by Abrera, with variants by Abrera, Francisco de Goya, Gustave Dore, Edmund Dulac, and Caravaggio. Street date is July 1.
Banana #1, a one-shot written by Joshua Dysart with art by Kevin Maguire, colors by Ruico Renzl and letter by David Lapham, stars a seven-foot sentient banana caught between humans and a fruit rebellion and the coming war between them. Cover A is by Michael Allred, accompanied by seven other covers, by JG Jones, Chris Bachalo, Lienil Francis Yu, Chris Bachalo, Hayden Sherman (banana scent), and Raymond Gay.
