Suspect Charged in Chicago 'Pokemon TCG' Armed Robberies

The Chicago Police Department arrested and charged a suspect in a string of armed robberies involving the theft of Pokemon TCG cards, according to WGN News

The robberies occurred over the course of March 2026 in Chicago’s Gage Park area; the suspect Anthony Garcia, age 23, would lure Pokemon TCG singles sellers into a building and rob them at gunpoint (see “Armed Robber“). He has been charged with five felony charges for the armed robberies on the following dates: March 17, 2026 (20-year-old victim); March 27, 2026 (20-year-old victim); March 28, 2026 (19-year-old victim); March 29, 2026 (29-year-old victim) and March 29, 202 (21-year-old victim).

All of the robberies happened between the 5200 and 5300 blocks of South Kedzie Ave. The suspect had prior arrests, according to CPD records; one for retail theft in August 2025 and one of armed robbery in 2020.
