With Five-Month Exclusive at Target in the U.S.
Ten Speed Graphic has announced it will adapt Ernest Cline’s best-selling science fiction novels Ready Player One and Ready Player Two into graphic novels, with the first volume exclusive to Target in the U.S. for a five-month window. Writer Scott Peterson, a former DC Comics and Wildstorm editor who is also doing Ten Speed Graphic’s adaptation of Mister Magic (see “‘Mister Magic’”), and artist Meredith Laxton are handling the adaptation.
Ready Player One will be released as a full color, 326-page hardcover on October 6, 2026, with an MSRP of $35.00, and will be available only at Target in the U.S. until March 2, 2027. After that, Ten Speed Graphic will simultaneously release trade and deluxe hardcover editions in all retail channels. The book will also be available in all major retailers in the UK and Canada starting on October 6. The second volume will follow in 2028.
Ready Player One is set in 2045 in a world where people escape into virtual reality and follows a player racing against others to solve a series of puzzles and gain a massive inheritance. Steven Spielberg directed the film adaptation (see “‘Ready Player One’ Earns $53.1 Million in Four-Day Bow”).
