Yen Press announced at Sakura-Con that it has licensed a new manga series by Fruits Basket manga-ka Natsuki Takaya and an early collection of short stories by Ryoko Kui, creator of Delicious in Dungeon, as well as new titles in the Fate and Elden Ring franchises, all set for release in October 2026.
The Dragon School Is Atop the Mountain, by Ryoko Kui, is a one-shot collection of early short stories that reflect Kui’s interest in mingling the ordinary with the fantastical, as she did in Delicious in Dungeon: A hero moves back home, an angel worries about starting high school, and a centaur gets a job hauling a cart. Delicious in Dungeon has been a best-seller for Yen since the anime came out (see “Yen Press Top Titles of 2025”); they published Kui’s art book Doodles in 2025 (see “Yen Press Licenses Art Book”).
In Such a Small World, by Natsuki Takaya, is a slice-of-life shojo romcom, complete in two volumes, that starts with a woman meeting her handsome neighbor when he comes over to retrieve his puppy from her balcony. The series ran in 2023 in Japan. Fruits Basket sold over 18 million copies when it was published by Tokyopop in the early 2000s. Yen published a new edition starting in 2015, along with two earlier series (see “‘Fruits Basket’ Returns”), as well as the sequel Fruits Basket Another (see “‘Fruits Basket’ Sequel”).
Fate/Protoype: Fragments of Sky Silver, by Hikaru Sakurai and TYPE-MOON with art by Tsuta Suzuki, is based on an original video anime that is part of the Fate/Stay Night franchise (see “Review: ‘Fate/Zero’ Vol. 1 TP”). Fate/Protoype,which blends romance with a battle for the Holy Grail, is one of the creator’s earlier concepts for what ultimately became Fate/Stay Night. While the anime is not currently available in English, this is likely to appeal to fans of the franchise.
Elden Ring: Become Lord, with an original story by 21g and art by Tegekiken, is a retelling of part of the Elden Ringvideo game with art rendered in full color; it originally ran as a webcomic in Japan and is complete in two volumes. The video game has also been adapted into several board games (see “Steamforged Games Launches New ‘Elden Ring’ Game”).
Fate Rewinder: All Great Feats Require Time, by Futa Kimura, is not part of the Fate/Stay Night franchise but a sci-fi/action story about a boy who is part of a group of time-travelers who use tiny time machines to undo tragedies. The series won a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2026 and an anime is in the works.
Non and Akari, by Neruko Nichinichi, mixes horror with girls love in a story about a young woman who moves into a haunted house and encounters a cursed doll who wants to be her BFF.
Meiji-Era Master-and-Servant Tungsten, by Mio Tatsumoto, is a yaoi romance set at the end of the Meiji Era between an engineer working on a hydroelectric power plant, rushing to meet the increased demand for electricity after the Russo-Japanese War, and his attendant, who is becoming something more than a servant. The series is complete in two volumes.
How to Keep a Human, by Pieta, is a one-shot slice-of-life story set in the world of demons and monsters and focusing on the humans they keep as pets and focusing on the cuteness rather than the potential horror in that premise.
