Bo Still Rules 'Tecmo Bowl'

Bo Jackson Battle Arena, Inc. will release Bo Jackson’s Battle Arena: Tecmo Bowl Edition into retail on May 1, 2026.

Bo Jackson’s Battle Arena TCG continues to serve up radioactive hot dogs (see “Bo Knows TCGs“) as a new booster set heads to retail. This time through, the makers of the game dive deep into nostalgia to create a set based on Bo Jackson’s most well-noted video game appearance in 1987’s Tecmo Bowl (see “‘Tecmo Bowl’“).

Just about every sports video game player from that era and beyond knows about the “No Bo Jackson” rule. It was a house rule where players would agree not to use the Raiders because once Bo Jackson had the ball and broke the initial defensive line, it was almost impossible to tackle him. There are even YouTube videos out there where streamers demonstrate how to use Bo Jackson to run back and forth across the field continuously to consume an entire quarter of the game.

The set has an array of different chase cards for collectors. The premier chase card in the set is a Black Variation Touchdown Bo Jackson card that is limited to 34 copies in the set. There are also Inspired Ink Autographs in the set from various football legends including: John Elway, Drew Brees, Lawrence Taylor, Dak Prescott, Troy Aikman, Puka Nacua, Randy Moss, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Rob Gronkowski, Ronnie Lott, Eric Dickerson, Thurman Thomas, Jerome Bettis, Jim Kelly, Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Randall Cunningham, Jim McMahon, Tony Dorsett, Marshall Faulk, Warren Moon, Mike Singletary, and of course, Bo Jackson.

This set comes in hobby boxes, which have one autograph card per box, and Double Mega boxes, which have 8 retail hits per box.
