Dark Horse License 'Forget-Me-Not,' New Manga by Creator of 'Wandering Island'

Dark Horse Comics has licensed the manga Forget-Me-Not, by Kenji Tsuruta, creator of Emanon, Wandering Island, and Captain Momo’s Secret Base, which are all also published by Dark Horse (see “Dark Horse Acquires New Series”).  Forget-Me-Not is set in Venice and features Mariel Imari, an Italian-Japanese woman with a talent for disguise. Mariel comes from a family of detectives, but the case she’s working on is her own: In order to inherit her grandfather’s estate, she must find and recover a painting that was stolen from him over two decades before.  The detective story adds a family drama dimension when her two sisters arrive from Japan believing that Mariel is rich, when in fact, nothing could be further from the case. Dark Horse will publish the first volume in comic shops and in bookstores on January 5, 2027, with an MSRP of $29.99.

Also in the works at Dark Horse: Babanba Banban Vampire, by Hiromasa Okujima, a BL comedy about a vampire who works in a bathhouse and is trying to seduce the teenager who just inherited it.  The anime is currently available on Netflix, and Dark Horse will release the first volume on November 10, 2026, with an MSRP of $13.99.

The license announcements also included Suicide Island, by Kouji Mori, a Battle Royale type story about a man who finds himself on a mysterious island after a failed suicide attempt, slated to launch on December 8 with an MSRP of $14.99, and Asobi Asobase, by Rin Suzukawa, which follows three schoolgirls who create their own club to challenge each other with increasingly intense games and dares.  The first volume is an omnibus that includes Vols. 1, 2, and 3 and part of Vol. 4 of the series; the 564-page paperback will be released on November 17 with an MSRP of $29.99.
