‘Downfall’ is Based on the a Mod for the Video Game; Also, Collector’s Edition Available
Contention Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Slay the Spire: Downfall, a new expansion for the board game.
Slay the Spire: Downfall is based on a mod for the video game (see “‘Slay the Spire’“), in which the players go from the protectors to the slayers. They can now assume the roles of Slime Boss, Guardian, Hexaghost and Hermit and band together to defeat Neow. The expansion includes new bosses, player cards, boards, and content. This expansion is also available as a Collector’s Edition that includes 92 acrylic tokens.
This game is for one to four players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 90 minutes. As of the publication of this article, the campaign has raised just shy of $3 million from over 15,000 backers (about $194 per backer). No word on a retail edition thus far.
