'Spider-Man Brand New Day,' 'Dune: Part Three,' and 'Star Wars: Maul' Trailers; 'Powers' Animated Series; 'Scooby-Doo' Casting; R.I.P. Chuck Norris

Spring has officially sprung, and Hollywood news is blossoming; time for a round-up!

Warner Bros. released a teaser trailer for Dune: Part Three (see below).  This movie features a star-studded cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, Javier Bardem, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke.  It hit theaters on December 18, 2026 (see “Best in Shows — 2026“).

Marvel Studios revealed a trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day (see below).  The trailer features Jon Bernthal as The Punisher (see “The Punisher Crashes ‘Spider-Man“) as well as Michael Mando as Scorpion.  This movie hits theaters on July 31, 2026.

Disney released a new trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord (see below).  This animated series hits streaming on April 6, 2026 (see “‘Maul’“).

Netflix is developing a Powers adult animated series, according to The Hollywood Reporter The Powers comic series, by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, won an Eisner award in 2001.  The property was previously adapted for live action TV by Sony, and ran for two seasons on the Play Station Network (see “‘Powers’ TV Series Cancelled After 2 Seasons“).

Netflix announced the main cast for the Scooby-Doo live-action series.  The cast will include Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones.  The series was ordered by Netflix back in 2025 (see “‘Scooby Doo’ Live Action“).

Legendary martial artist and actor Chuck Norris passed away on March 19, 2026.  He was perhaps best known for his roles in The Way of the Dragon, Lone Wolf McQuade, Missing in Action, Invasion U.S.A., The Expendables 2 (see “‘Expendables’ Sequel“) and as the lead in the original Walker, Texas Ranger television series.  For martial arts comics collectors, his first appearance in comics was with Star Comics’ Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos #1 (1986), which was based on the animated series.  Norris recently turned 86 on March 10, 2026, and offered the following quote on his birthday via Instagram about his longevity: “I don’t age.  I level up.”Source: ICv2
