Silver Sprocket has announced some major changes, including a new book distributor, new staff, and a publishing hiatus for the first part of the year. They also revealed that 200 people have signed up so far to their new membership program, which will support their brick-and-mortar retail store in San Francisco.
Silver Sprocket will continue to distribute to the direct market via Lunar and Universal, but it has added Ingram/PGW as its book distributor.
The publishing team has added two new members, Publishing Operations Co-Managers Lina De La Cruz and Sebastian Ramos. De La Cruz had already been working with Silver Sprocket as a as part of her job in foreign rights management at Full Bleed Rights. Ramos had a ten-year stint at Image Comics, joining the company as an administrative assistant in 2015 and transitioning to Book Market & Library Sales Manager. He also has experience in library systems.
The publisher is taking a break from new releases with plans to resume in the summer. The upcoming catalog will include Fungirl Forever, by Elizabeth Pich (see “Library Apologizes After Child Gets Adult Comic on Free Comic Book Day”), Demons Pandemonium by Hyena Hell, and Brief Histories of Everyday Objects by Andy Warner (see “10 Best Kids Comics of 2021”).
The membership program for Silver Sprocket’s retail store, located in San Francisco’s Mission District, was launched in January and already has 200 members, half of the stated goal. Memberships run from $5 to $250 per month and come with an array of benefits including discounts, invitations to members-only events, T shirts, tote bags, and other extras. Silver Sprocket laid off three retail employees in March 2025 (see “Shop Talk, March 2025”). The store carries a wide variety of indie comics in addition to Silver Sprocket titles and is a strong supporter of local artists.
Silver Sprocket is the publisher of PeePee PooPoo, by Caroline Cash, which won the 2024 Eisner Award for Best Limited Series (see “Silver Sprocket Adds More PeePee PooPoo”).
