Goldin Auctions sold Logan Paul’s PSA GEM Mint 10 1998 P.M. Pokemon TCG Illustrator Japanese Holo Promo card for $16.49 million on February 16, 2026.

When the hammer dropped after midnight on Monday, the world had a new auction record holder. Logan Paul’s Pikachu Illustrator (see “‘Pokemon TCG’ Card Heads to Auction“) not only crushed the previous TCG card sales record, which was set by this card in 2021 at $5.275 million (see “‘Pokemon TCG’ Illustrator Promo Card“), but it also smashed the sales record for any trading card ever sold, passing the 2007-2008 Upper Deck Jordan/Bryant Duel Logoman sale of $12.932 million (a basketball card that sold in 2025).

This card, of course, came with additional bells and whistles that made it even more desirable to high-end collectors, such as the diamond-encrusted gold chain holder. Regardless, it is now the most expensive trading card ever sold, and on par with other luxury collectibles, like the CGC 9.0 Action Comics #1 that sold recently at auction for $15 million (see “‘Action Comics’ #1“) and Frank Frazetta’s Conan Man-Ape painting that sold for $13.5 million (see “Frank Frazetta ‘Conan’ ‘Man Ape’ Painting“).
