'March' Artist Nate Powell Announces New Solo Graphic Novel

Nate Powell, the artist for the Eisner- and National Book Award-winning trilogy March, announced his newest graphic novel, Diana, in a post on Bluesky. Powell will write and draw the new book, which he described as a prequel to his 2024 Fall Through and will form an interconnected triptych with his  2018 Come Again. The title character in Diana is a runaway and a singer who cuts a larger-than-life figure in the punk-rock scene of her small Arkansas town but has only one confidante, a faraway pen pal. When this distant friend disappears, she goes on a journey to find him. Abrams ComicArts will publish Diana on October 6, 2026, as a 320-page, full color hardcover with an MSRP of $29.99.

“The seeds for Diana took me by complete surprise, transforming my own understanding of these characters I’ve grown to love so deeply—and making this book has been the most fulfilling creative experience of my life,” Powell said on Bluesky. Powell, who grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas, was a member of the local punk rock scene in the 1990s, and his books draw on that (see “Nate Powell Blends Punk Rock and Time Travel”). In addition to March (written by Andrew Aydin and Rep. John Lewis), Powell won a 2009 Eisner Award for Swallow Me Whole.
