Iello Licenses Toho, Inc.’s Monsters for New Edition of the Classic Kaiju Battling Game
Iello will release King of Tokyo: Godzilla, a new edition of the classic Kaiju battling game, into retail in August 2026.
It took several iterations of King of Tokyo for it to happen (see “‘King of Tokyo Duel’” and also, “‘King of Tokyo’ Goes ‘Monster Box’“), but Iello has finally licensed ToHo’s legendary monsters so that they can make an official appearance in this game. Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Hedorah, Rodan, Mothra, and Mechagodzilla are all included in this game as player options to smash Tokyo (or each other) with. The game engine is generally the same with, of course, a few flavor tweaks to the artwork and cards. To win the game, players must either be the last monster standing or destroy Tokyo by accumulating 20 victory points.
This game is for two to six players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 30 minutes. It will retail for $59.99.
