Huge crowds thronged the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York for the 2025 edition of New York Comic Con, numbering over 250,000 attendees, according to show organizers ReedPOP. ReedPOP did not respond to questions on the counting method; but in the past, ReedPOP has counted tickets as attendees (i.e., one person buying two one-day tickets is two attendees, one person buying a four-day ticket is one attendee). Regardless of the counting method, it was a massive turnout, with an improved experience on the exhibit floor.
Carpeted aisles made for a much more positive vibe, and to us it seemed like exhibitors were more mixed, with a broader variety of exhibitor types in different areas of the floor. Whether intentional or not, for us the mix worked better this way, with new and interesting booths interrupting the expected flow, giving a fresher feel to the experience.
It seemed like there was more cosplay than in San Diego (check back tomorrow for more cosplay photos), which is an interesting divergence, if true. Overall, this was the most successful NYCC show since at least the beginning of the Covid pandemic (see “This Was the NYCC We’ve All Been Waiting For“).
