Manga continues to dominate the chart of the Top 20 best-selling Adult graphic novels according to Circana (formerly NPD) BookScan data for September 2025 (8/31/25 – 10/4/25) provided to ICv2.
The two DC Comics Absolute graphic novels that were on the August chart (see “August 2025 Circana BookScan“) have disappeared, and there are no DC Compact Comics or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hardcovers in the Top 20, just a whole lot of manga. While Vol. 13 of Solo Leveling stays on the chart for the second month, it’s the only volume of the best-selling series to make the cut. The only other non-manga graphic novel is the newly released MrBallen Presents: Where Nightmares Live, the second graphic novel based on the popular podcast, which was released on September 30.
Most of the manga on the chart are there thanks to anime, so it’s remarkable that three volumes of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 7 – Steel Ball Run are in the top 20, especially as they are $25 hardcovers. The anime of this arc of the long-running series is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2026.
As usual, VIZ Media dominates the chart, but Kodansha Comics makes an unusually strong showing with four volumes: two each of Gachiakuta and Blue Lock.
