“La Fleur” Kickstarter Campaign Blossoms, Surpassing Funding Goal with Opulent French Flair

The Kickstarter campaign for “La Fleur” by Dux Somnium Games has significantly surpassed its initial funding goal, securing $176,082 against a target of $5,000. With 28 days remaining until the campaign concludes on May 30, the board game has attracted 1,937 backers, reflecting strong interest in its Rococo-themed gameplay.

Set in 18th-century France, “La Fleur” challenges players to develop their basic châteaux into opulent estates by hosting the most elaborate garden parties. The game involves strategic deployment of artisans to various locations in Paris to collect flowers, hire help, earn coins, and add garden features, enhancing the appeal of players’ estates.

Each game round concludes with a garden party, which provides players opportunities to gain prestige and attract international visitors. However, the competitive element is prominent, as players must ensure their estate remains more attractive than those of their neighbors to retain and attract visitors.

The game is noted for its 18th-century artwork, incorporating historical illustrations and paintings that draw on the works of painter and botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté among others, providing a visual immersion into the Rococo period.

“La Fleur” features a range of characters, garden enhancements, and visitors, enriching the gameplay narrative and strategic options. The game is designed to be accessible, with a simple rule system for easy learning and varied game mechanics that ensure each session is unique.

The quality of game materials is highlighted, with linen finishes and durable construction meant to reflect the luxury of the Rococo era, though final images and components are yet to be finalized.
