DC Comics  is turning The Deadman up to 12 – issues that is – as the publisher announced that the series, originally slated for six issues, will run for a full dozen.  The series, by W. Maxwell Prince and Chris O’Halloran, the team behind Image Comics’ The Ice Cream Man, was announced at ComicsPRO in February (see “DC Announces New Absolute and Next Level Titles“) and is part of DC’s Next Level line.  The first issue was released in June and was the 15th best selling comic, in terms of unit sales, in the combined ComicHub and Comic Shop Assistant sales data (see “Top 50 Comics – June 2026“).

“The response to our Deadman story has been absolutely spirit-lifting,” Prince said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  “We’re having so much fun giving new life to Boston Brand and his purgatorial world… and we’re not ready to give up the ghost just yet.  Here’s to 6 more issues of monsters, mantras, and mystic math!”
