Dynamite Entertainment is doing something new with the next phase of their Supernatural comic series, based on the long-running TV show: The Winchester brothers will split up, and their stories will continue in two interconnected series.
The drama will begin in September with the one-shot Supernatural: Wayward special, by writer Paulina Ganucheau and artist John Amor, in which the brothers are forced to take different roads. Then the two new series will debut in October: Supernatural: Dean Winchester, by writer Chuck Brown and artist Rapha Lobosco, opens in New Orleans at Mardi Gras, with Dean trying to solve a cold case that had eluded his father, and Supernatural: Sam Winchester, by Ganucheau and artist Kendall Goode, finds Sam on the trail of an ancient mystery in an abandoned town in Appalachia.
Supernatural: Dean Winchester #1 will have covers by Marguerite Sauvage and Lobosco, and Supernatural: Sam Winchester #1 will have covers by Ganucheau and Goode. Both comics will also have covers by other artists as well as photo covers.
Dynamite announced it had picked up the license for Supernatural in 2025, and the first arc, by writer Greg Pak and artist Eder Messias, was set between the first and second series of the TV show (see “New ‘Supernatural’ Comics from Dynamite“).
