Actor and cultural icon Danny Trejo is expanding his legacy into creator-owned publishing with Year of the Devil, an original supernatural action-horror graphic novel debuting at San Diego Comic-Con before launching its worldwide crowdfunding campaign on September 29, 2026.
Co-created by Danny Trejo, award-winning transmedia creator Keith Arem, and writer Chris Yates, Year of the Devil is a prestige five-issue graphic novel that combines Aztec mythology, biblical prophecy, supernatural horror, and relentless action. Trejo stars creatively as Diego, an immortal warrior cursed to battle the Devil and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse across the centuries in a desperate fight to save the woman he loves and prevent humanity’s extinction.
The series will feature an international roster of acclaimed cover artists such as Eisner nominated Vanesa R. Del Rey, Carlo Barberi, Raymond Gay, Jonathan Uribe, J. Gonzo, Jaime Carrillo, Willi Roberts, Eskivo, Kevin Keane and Frank Mazzoli providing interior artwork with additional contributors from across comics and entertainment.
Launching with an exclusive industry press reveal and a major San Diego Comic-Con presence, Year of the Devil will roll out through a coordinated national campaign featuring convention appearances, horror and entertainment media, influencer collaborations, podcasts, livestreams, and fan activations, culminating with its official crowdfunding launch on September 29 and concluding on Día de los Muertos, November 2.
