Chris Powell Promoted to Director of Operations

Coliseum of comics, the nine-store southeastern U.S. comic and game store chain, has promoted Chris Powell to Director of Operations. He was previously Director of Texas Operations and signed on with the chain in 2025 as General Manager (see “Chris Powell Returns to Retail”).

“We’ve been navigating a period of significant growth,” said Phil Boyle, President and CEO of Coliseum of Comics, in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Giving Chris the reins to lead our stores into their next stage of evolution is essential to maintaining the pace we’ve set for ourselves. His experience, leadership, and commitment to operational excellence make him the right person to help.”

“Coliseum’s expansion into Texas has exceeded our expectations in a remarkably short time,” he added. “Our increased visibility has opened doors to opportunities nationwide. We recognized the need for a leadership team organized not only to maximize the performance of our existing stores but also to position Coliseum for continued growth.”

Powell spent over 20 years at the eight-store Dallas-Fort Worth retail chain and e-commerce company Lone Star Comics, ending his stint there as General Manager. He moved to Diamond Comic Distributors in 2012 as Executive Director of Business Development and was promoted to Vice President and then to Chief Sales and Service Officer, a position he held for six years until he was laid off due to the Diamond bankruptcy (see “Executives Laid Off at Diamond“).
