The British graphic novel publisher SelfMadeHero, which is distributed in the U.S. by Abrams, has announced six titles for its Fall 2026 catalog, including new work by the husband-and-wife team of Mary and Bryan Talbot and a collected edition of Leah Moore and John Reppion’s adaptations of ghost stories by M.R. James. Here’s a look. (All dates are U.S. release; UK dates are earlier.)
Ghost Stories of an Antiquary: The Compendium collects eight ghost stories by the early 20th-century British writer Montage Rhodes James (M.R. James), adapted by Leah Moore and John Reppion, with art by Aneke, Kit Buss, Al Davison, Meghan Hetrick, George Kambadais, Abigail Larson, Fouad Mezher, and Alisdair Wood. This new edition collects eight stories that were previously published as two volumes and has a cover by Francesco Francavilla. The 144-page hardcover will go on sale in 2027 with an MSRP of $31.99.
Lo! An Amazon! The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Mary Wollstonecraft, written by Mary Talbot with art by Bryan Talbot, is a graphic biography of the pioneering 18th-century feminist (and mother of Frankenstein creator Mary Shelley) by the co-creators of Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes, Sally Heathcote: Suffragette, and Rain (see “Mary M Talbot and Bryan Talbot Partner for ‘Rain’”). The 152-page hardcover is scheduled for release on November 3, 2026, with an MSRP of $24.99.
Nightmares and Daydreams: A.C. 2020, by Mriko Ilić, is a collection of wordless, single-page comics inspired by the work of Leonard Cohen, Dylan Thomas, Winsor McCay, and in which Ilić, an award-winning artist and designer, reflects on life during and immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic. The 152-page hardcover is slated for September 29, 2026, with an MSRP of $26.99.
The Great Mark Evers: The True Story of a Champion Against All Odds, by writer Ivo van Woerden, artist Gemma Plum, and colorist Marloes Dekkers, translated from the Dutch by Michele Hutchison, is a graphic biography of the Paralympic swimmer and his road to the championship with the support of his family. The 192-page hardcover is scheduled for October 6, 2026; MSRP is $31.94.
Chagall: Painter of Poetry, by Simon Elliott, tells the life story of the modernist painter Marc Chagall. The 240-page hardcover will be released on November 24, 2026, with an MSRP of $24.99.
Romo the WolfBoy, by ILYA, is a paperback edition of the tale of a stagehand and a strange boy investigating a mystery at a traveling circus. The book was crowdfunded on Kickstarter, with pledges totaling £11,358 by 184 backers. SelfMadeHero will publish the 256-page paperback on September 1, 2026, with an MSRP of $19.99.
