Asmodee USA will release The Queen’s Gambit, a board game by Mixlore, into U.S. retail on December 10, 2021.
The Queen’s Gambit took Netflix by storm last year as one of their breakout limited series hits. The series was so popular that it even caused a bump in sales of chess sets for the 2020 holiday season (see “This Holiday Season“). Now, the thrill of being three moves ahead of opponents is headed to retail in a new programmed movement board game.
In this game, each player has a Gambit piece that they can move across the chessboard. Each turn is planned three moves ahead, and players advance their Gambit piece by laying out three cards face down. The goal of the game is to capture chess tiles as the Gambit piece moves according to the cards. The game ends win all the chess tiles are captured, and the player with the most tiles wins.
This game is for two to four players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 15 minutes. It will retail for $29.99.
