Crunchyroll Anime Awards Announced; New Anime from 'Dandadan' Studio; 'GoT: House of the Dragon,' 'X-Men'97' S2 and 'Vought Rising' Trailers; 'That Texas Blood' Series

The holiday week still produced a raft of Hollywood news, which we round up here.

Crunchyroll announced their annual Anime Award winners.  Anime of the Year honors went to My Hero Academia: Final Season, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle won Film of the Year (see “‘Demon Slayer’ Boffo“).  Gachiakuta won multiple awards, including Best Background Art, Best Character Design, and was declared the Best New Series of the year.

Science Saru will launch an anime adaptation of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia This anime is based on the manga of the same name, written by Tomato Soup and published in North America by Yen Press.  Science Saru is the studio behind Dandadan as well as a new The Ghost in the Shell series (see “‘The Ghost in a The Shell’“).  This anime series will premiere in the U.S. at Anime Expo 2026 on July 3.

HBO Max released the final trailer for House of the Dragon (see below).  The third season of this Game of Thrones series begins streaming on June 21, 2026, and has been renewed for a fourth season (see “‘Game of Thrones’ Series News“).

Marvel Entertainment revealed a trailer for X-Men’97 Season 2 (see below).  The second season of the acclaimed animated series hits Disney+ on July 1, 2026 (see “‘X-Men ’97’“).

Amazon MGM Studios released a first look trailer for Vought Rising (see below).  This The Boys spinoff stars Jensen Ackles, Aya Cash, Elizabeth Posey, and more (see “‘Vought Rising’ Casting“) and will stream on Prime Video in 2027.

FX is developing a That Texas Blood drama series.  It will be neo-Western series based on the Image comic of the same name, created by Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips. Jim Mickle, director, showrunner, and writer of Sweet Tooth (see “Sweet Tooth“), and E.L. Katz will be the leads for development of the show.Source: ICv2
