Brings Gigamic’s Push-Your-Luck Game to U.S.
Hachette Boardgames USA is bringing Gigamic’s push-your-luck game Pirate King! to the U.S. market on June 10.
In Pirate King, players act simultaneously, flipping over cards from their own personal decks in search of fame and fortune. Each player starts the game with a unique deck based on their choice of captain and can add to their deck during the game.
Collecting swords can enable a player to capture creatures that grant special powers, while gathering gold provides the opportunity to draft treasure cards into their deck. Each time a player reveals a card, they must choose either to take their loot or keep drawing cards to get even more, but at the risk of revealing their third skull and going bust. After seven rounds of play, the one who has collected the most crowns is declared the new Pirate King.
Pirate King! was created by freshman designer Frankie Bu and is intended for two to five players, ages eight and up. Includes 109 cards and a wooden Captain token. Takes about 20 minutes to play. MSRP is $16.99.
Hachette’s summer releases also include Super Meeple’s Mythologies (see “Hachette Conjures ‘Mythologies’”) and Omens (see “Tarot-Inspired ‘Omens’ Hits Preorder”). The company released an expansion for Gigamic’s Akropolis last month (see “Hachette Expands ‘Akropolis’ and ‘Cyclades’”).
