IDW Publishing has hired Anthony Mauro, formerly of BOOM! Studios, as Talent & Events Manager. Mauro will be responsible for working with retailers and licensing partners on promotional events, store signings, and other marketing partnerships, as well as coordinating signings and other events with creators and managing logistics for industry events such as ComicsPRO, American Library Association meetings, Comic-Con International in San Diego, and New York Comic Con.
“When Aub Driver asked if I was interested in joining the IDW marketing team, it was the easiest ‘yes’ I’ve made in my career,” Mauro said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Mauro began his comics career as a freelance journalist and then moved to the industry side when he joined Dark Horse Comics in 2019 as Public Relations Coordinator and moved up to PR Strategist in 2022. He joined BOOM! Studios as Marketing Lead in 2023 (see “BOOM! Hires Three”) and was promoted to Associate Manager, Marketing in 2024. At BOOM! he worked on Something is Killing the Children, BRZRKR, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and he coordinated the 2024 BRZRKR panel in Hall H at Comic-Con.
Outside of his marketing work, Mauro is a comics writer who has contributed stories to the EC Cruel Universe anthology and co-wrote the indie series Skull Maskerade.
