Marvel Comics has added a new twist to the blind-bag program for Queen in Black #1 with a display box option that will include 19 blind bags and a display-box exclusive cover. The 19 covers will be blind-bag exclusives, as previously announced (see “Marvel Announces ‘Queen in Black’with Blind Bag Program”), with no open-to-order variants. Every display box will contain an exclusive black version of Pat Gleason’s “Webhead” variant, which will be sealed in a clear plastic bag, as well as both connecting variant covers by David Marquez. The blind-bag program also includes one-of-a-kind sketch covers, as Marvel did with Daredevil #1 (see “‘Daredevil’ #1 Blind Bags to Include Rare Covers by Frank Miller, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Actors”), although the artists have not been announced.
While the black version is exclusive to the display boxes, Gleason’s cover is also available in two other versions, an open-to-order white version and a blind-bag exclusive foil variant (see “Preview: ‘Queen in Black’ #1 Variant Covers”).
MSRP for the display boxes is $149.99, a savings of $9.81 over the cost of 20 copies of the 56-page first issue, which is priced at $7.99.
