Archon Opens 'Trench Crusade'

Archon Studio has announced the Trench Crusade Carcass Front Narrative Campaign Box for its horror-themed World War I miniatures game.   The new starter set will hit the streets on July 29.

Trench Crusade imagines a world in which a portal to Hell was opened during the First Crusade, triggering 800 years of war.  In this version of 1914, a World War I style conflict consumes the world, fought in trenches across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southern Europe.  The game focuses on small-unit skirmishes engaged in the no man’s land between the trench lines.

Carcass Front is a self-contained starter set designed to introduce new players to the system while also offering new source material and gameplay options for existing players.  The heart of the set is the 96-page sourcebook, which includes new rules and lore for the setting as well as a pair of playable campaigns.  The first is intended for two players and presents a narrative campaign of linked scenarios centered around the prophesied awakening of Leviathan.  The second uses game maps for a more open-style campaign for two to eight players.

Also included are two complete playable Warbands, representing the Procession of the Sacred Affliction and Heretic Naval Raiders, a total of 16 miniatures each with multiple assembly options and a selection of weapons, gear, and swappable heads.

The boxed set comes with the 16 miniatures, supplied unpainted and requiring assembly, an assortment of terrain pieces, an introductory version of the Trench Crusade rules, the campaign book and maps depicting the Carcass Front, dice, rulers, playsheets, and score pads for the game.  MSRP is $129.99.

In May, Archon will launch its Starcraft miniatures game (see “‘Starcraft:  The Miniatures Game’ Two-Player Starter Set Incoming”).  The company also recently expanded its World of Tanks card game (see “Archon Studio Unveils New ‘World of Tanks:  The Card Game’ Set”).
