2026 will be the 60th anniversary of the Star Trek television series, and IDW Publishing is planning two new ongoing series as well as a 60th anniversary special and a LGBTQ+ anthology.
In Star Trek, by writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Dennis Menheere, Captain Seven of Nine brings the Enterprise-G outside the four quadrants of the galaxy and into a space where an unknown force causes time to splinter and manipulates the minds of the crew, causing them to doubt the ideals of the Federation. The first issue is scheduled for September 2026.
The other ongoing series, Star Trek: Zero Point, will launch in October 2026 and features Captain Raffi Musiker on a mission to prevent future catastrophes, guided by artificial intelligence with a deceptively human face. The writer for the series is the Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novelist Charlie Jane Anders; the artist has not been announced.
“I’m determined to write a Trek comic that newbies can read with no homework required: there are no easter eggs, no callbacks to deep lore,” Anders said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Anyone who loves Becky Chambers or Martha Wells ought to be able to pick up this comic and get a fun science fiction story about artificial consciousness and exoplanets. Also, I’m talking to tons of physicists to get the most accurate science I can into this comic. I’m having the time of my life.”
Star Trek Celebrations 2026 is an LGBTQ+ themed anthology set for release in May with covers by Adele Kincel and Noah Dao and a 1:15 retailer incentive variant by Linnea Jalando-on. Aside from the cover artists, no creators were announced.
Star Trek: 60th Anniversary Special, to be released in September, is a 50-page collection of new stories by Dana Gould, Ryan North and Derek Charm, David Walker, Megan Camerena, and others, with covers by Michael Cho, John Tyler Christopher, and Chris Fenoglio.
IDW launched three Star Trek limited series in 2025 (see “IDW Announces Three ‘Star Trek’ Limited Series”).
