Upper Deck has announced Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game Second Edition, an updated version of the 2013 Core Set, releasing in 2026.
The new set is being brought in-line with the changes made to the game over the twelve years since the Core Set release, with rebalanced cards and an expanded selection as well as an updated and revised rulebook. The card count has expanded from 500 to 550 cards, with 250 revised cards and 42 Bystander cards. New additions include Doctor Octopus, the Sinister Syndicate, the Miles Morales Spider-Man, and ten S.H.I.E.L.D. Officer Specialists.
Mastermind characters in the new set will be printed on double-sided cards featuring both normal and more powerful versions to allow players to customize their challenge level and add more flavor to the Masterminds. A ninth Scheme joins the original eight Schemes, all rebalanced to be more challenging as well. To reduce the chances of Villains escaping too early, a new Warmup Round has been added to games with four or five players, and the card stack quantities have been increased to better support games with more players.
Every card in the Second Edition set will feature new artwork in an extended borderless style. In addition, every Hero will have different art on each of their four character cards. The art includes work by Andrea Adiletto, Don Aquillo, Tazio Bettin, Lip Wei Chang, Lorenzo Di Santo, Nahuel Lopez, Andre Meister, Johnny Morrow, Lorenza Pigliamosche, Simone Ragazzoni, Riccardo Robaldo, and Ryan Smallman.
