Skybound, Image Comics, and book publisher AMEET will publish a new edition of LEGO Ninjago: Dark Island Trilogy, by writer Greg Farshtey and artist Paul Lee. The graphic novel was originally published as three volumes by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers in 2016 and has long been out of print. Skybound is collecting the trilogy in a single volume, with a new cover by Tri Vuong, to be released on June 30, 2026.
The return of the graphic novel coincides with the 15th anniversary of LEGO Ninjago, which was created in 2011 as a tie-in to the Ninjago animated television series.
“The Dark Island Trilogy is full of epic set pieces and Spinjitzu action and a must read for new and established fans,” Skybound Senior Editor Diegs Lopez said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Skybound announced a deal with the children’s book publisher AMEET to publish LEGO Ninjago comics in 2021, kicking off the program with a new five-issue series, LEGO Ninjago Garmadon, by Vuong, in 2022 (see “Image, Skybound to Publish New ‘Lego Ninjago Garmadon’ Series”) and following it up with a second series, also by Vuong, in 2024 (see “Preview: ‘Lego Ninjago Shatterspin’ #1”). They will release the new original graphic novel Lego Ninjago: Strike of the Serpentine, by Cameron Chittock and Will Morris, on February 2026.
Asmodee will debut the board game LEGO Ninjago: Destiny’s Bounty Adventures, at Gen Con 2026 (see “Asmodee and LEGO Team Up for a Third Time”).
