Mad Cave Studios is launching a Flash Gordon arc by writer Dan Abnett and artist Manuel Garcia with a #0 issue in April, the company announced. Abnett brings Big Two cred to the series; he is also the writer on Marvel Comics’ Imperial Guardians, a new launching in March to follow up Jonathan Hickman’s Imperial (see “Dan Abnett to Write”).
The story takes Flash around Neptune’s moons with a group of cadets he’s training to be the next generation of explorers, and it turns into a deadly alien hunt. The series will introduce new characters and create a new status quo.
The A cover is by Joe Quinones and Miguel Mercado contributes a variant cover. Flash Gordon #0 will be released April 8; the series will then resume its numbering with #16.
