It’s icy cold outside, but the Hollywood news is heating up.  Time for a round-up!

Tokyo Broadcasting System is purchasing a $150 million minority stake in Legendary, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with plans for Legendary to expand development of Japanese IP for a global audience. TBS is a Japanese state-owned media conglomerate that produced the popular game shows Takashi’s Castle and Sasuke (Ninja Warrior).  TBS has also broadcast dozens of anime shows over the course of its history, such as Lupin the Third Part 1, The Ultraman, and more recently, various The Quintessential Quintuplets series (see “Quintessential Quintuplets“).

Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy will be succeeded by a pair of co-presidents when she leaves the company in 2026, according to Variety Kennedy, who announced her retirement in 2025 (see “Kathleen Kennedy to Retire“), will be replaced by COO Dave Filoni and President and General Manager Lynwen Brennan.  Filoni’s new role as one of the co-presidents of Lucasfilm was somewhat telegraphed as he had been rising within the company’s ranks for the last few years (see “Lucasfilm Promotes Filoni).  Brennan has years of executive experience at Lucasfilm; she was previously the President of Industrial Light & Magic from 2009 to 2015 until she was appointed General Manager of Lucasfilm.

A stand-alone Warhammer Age of Sigmar episode for Prime Video is nearly complete, Games Workshop announced in its half-year report (see “Games Workshop Finding Growth in Independent Retailers“).  A Warhammer 40,000 episode aired as part of Prime Video’s Secret Level anthology series in 2024 (see “’Secret Level’“).

Marvel Studios revealed a fourth Avengers: Doomsday teaser (see below).  The new teaser offers a glimpse at the Wakandans and The Fantastic Four, who will both be featured in this new movie (see “‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast Unveiled“).  This follows last week’s teaser, which featured the X-Men (see “’Avengers: Doomsday’ Teaser“).

Netflix released a teaser for One Piece Season 2 (see below).  The second season of this live action series sets sail on March 10, 2026 (see “‘One Piece’ S2“). The first season was a massive hit on release in 2023 (see “’One Piece’ Renewed“).

Bandai revealed the title song for Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe as part of a new trailer (see below): the opening theme song is “Snooze” by superstar singer SZA.  The anime feature opens in Japan on January 30; North American release date has not been announced.  Also, Legendary Entertainment recently added cast to the new Gundam live action movie (see “‘Gundam’ Casting“).

Disney has greenlit a new Phineas and Ferb movie, according to Variety This third movie (see “‘Phineas and Ferb’ Revived“) will feature a time-travel story; an experiment goes wrong and erases the moment where Phineas’ mom met Ferb’s dad, and the pair end up in a race to fix the timeline.Source: ICv2
