A PSA-graded 9 1966 Topps Batman (Black Bat) – #1 The Batman recently hammered at $131,250 in the recent Heritage Auctions’ Non-Sports Trading Card Showcase on December 11, 2025.
This vintage non-sports trading card is often referred to as Batman’s “Rookie Card” because it is his very first Topps card that was part of the 1966 “Black Bat” set. It features iconic artwork by Norman Saunders, an artist known for his work on Mars Attacks cards (see “‘Mars Attacks’ License“), showing The Batman swooping down in front of the Bat Signal. This particular card is the highest-graded PSA copy known and is ranked #1 on the PSA Registry.
The non-sports trading card market (which excludes TCGs; they are their own category) has been heating up over the course of 2025. In October 2025, a PSA-graded 10 1977 Star Wars #1 Luke Skywalker, one of the holy grails for non-sports card collectors, sold for $268,400 at Heritage. Also, in the same auction as the Batman rookie card, the PSA Gem Mint 10 Robin – Boy Wonder card sold for $62,500 (there are only three PSA 10 versions of this card known).
