Games and Stuff Acquires 'The Dark Crystal' Prop

Plans to Display It In Store; Store Owner Paul Alexander Butler Becomes Envy of Skeksis Everywhere

Games and Stuff announced that they have acquired the actual Crystal of Truth screen-used prop from the Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (see “‘Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ Trailer“).

The prop was on the block at the Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary held by Julian’s Auctions in California on November 25, 2025. In the lore of The Dark Crystal, The Crystal of Truth was the giant quartz-shaped, radiant white crystal that distributed energy throughout the lands of Thra. The Crystal of Truth eventually became known as “The Dark Crystal” when a shard broke off of it during The Great Division and the crystal turned a corrupted, translucent purple color. The prop is cast in multi-layer resin, with a laminate outer coating, and features the translucent purple color as well as the area where the shard broke off (for story purposes).

Games and Stuff owner Paul Alexander Butler (see “Paul Alexander Butler of Games & Stuff“) bid in the 70th Anniversary auction, but the item price drifted beyond his maximum bid and hammered at $89,600 (which included a 25% buyers premium). However, as luck would have it, Julian’s Auctions ended up e-mailing Butler two weeks later, and informing him that the lot was still available. They then accepted his last bid as the winning bid (final price withheld upon Butler’s request).

Butler, a die-hard Jim Henson fan, was ecstatic to finalize the deal for the on December 12, 2025. Here is what he had to say about:

“It’s seven feet tall and purple,” said Paul Alexander Butler. “That matches the interior decor of my store perfectly!”

The prop will be on display at Games and Stuff in Glen Burnie, Maryland sometime in the next year. Butler and his game store will assuredly be the envy of Skesis everywhere, and perhaps a destination for fans of The Dark Crystal who also want to buy a few games.
