Thundergryph Games will release Etherstone, which features dice drafting and card summoning in a dynamic strategy card game, to trade in January via Asmodee. Etherstone raised $281,309 (converted from Euros at today’s rate) from 3,949 backers on Kickstarter in March 2024.
In Etherstone, players work to avoid an extinction-level event on the mystical planet Nobura as faction leaders who must unite forces to achieve their goal. Faction Leaders have asymmetric powers, with varying abilities, life points, and strengths. Players can gain victory points by summoning cards, defeating threats, or leveraging dice and card effects.
The box contains 75 Entity cards, 18 Threat cards, 13 Leader cards, 5 Etherstone dice, 4 Dice display tokens, 4 Life dials, 80 Etherstones (in 4 different colors), 32 Victory points tokens, 32 Counter tokens, 8 Void pacts, 1 Endgame trigger token, and 4 Player aid cards.
Etherstone is for 2-4 players ages 14 and up and plays in about 45 minutes. It will be released on January 2 at $44.99 MSRP.
Thundergryph Games had a variety of paths to U.S. stores prior to 2021, when Asmodee acquired exclusive distribution rights (see “Asmodee Announces Deals“).
